My poems are like songs without music, intense abbreviated emotion – some are like old western ballads which tell a story. Many kinds of stories. As I drive, go walking, or travel around this country and beyond, rhythmic words appear in my mind in jumbled imagery that need to be set down on paper. I don’t always know where the beginnings of these poems will take me, and sometimes I can be as surprised as you are to read them when they reach a conclusion. The inspiration of these writings are life’s observations, my dreams, or a bird singing alone in Manhattan at midnight.
