I have loved dogs of every kind for all of my life from age five to my last pets; losing them during the lonely time when my wife Joyce died in 2017. Now, no more dogs for me, or anything else. But from Smokey to Max, they captured my heart, though they all lacked the human scale of endurance (say, 70 years or so) and died too young. I cannot watch them die anymore.
